Distractible

David has reached the lovely stage wherein the world is more interesting than eating.

If there's a light on in the room, he wants to look at it, not eat.
If there are other people in the room, he wants to play with them, not eat.
If someone's talking, he wants to talk to them, not eat.
If there are toys in the room, he wants to play with them, not eat.
If there is a fan circling, he wants to watch it, not eat.
If there is a TV or other electronic screen on, he wants to watch it, not eat.
If Mommy has a book, he wants to look at it, not eat.
If there is any noise, he wants to find it, not eat.
If there is anything going on, he wants to be part of it, not eat.
Leaving Mommy hanging out for all the world to see.

Distraction

For the first time ever, David stopped eating because he got distracted by a toy. Unfortunately, this upset Karen greatly. I was putting a dress on Cinderella for her, and she told David, "No see my pincess neky (naked)!" I see trouble in my future.

David at night: I've eaten for the last hour and am totally content to sleep now. Wait, Mom wants to put me in the crib? I'll cry and root so she'll think I'm hungry and keep me in the comfy bed with her.

This is such a lovely stage of learning how to feed myself!

Like many new skills, learning to feed yourself can be a messy process!

Karen's got the "put in mouth" part of the spoon down. Now if only she could scoop more food up by herself!

I gave L a Nutrigrain bar and told her to feed KJ. I guess she obeyed since I found it in half.
