Introducing: Little Turtle!

The kids finally got to meet their first cousin, Little Turtle for the first time yesterday. They all declared her "good." And then LadyBug carried around her baby doll, renamed after her cousin, for the rest of the day.

Whoa, Sundae!

Not only did Frog catch her first fish yesterday, but she went on a concert/dessert date with Daddy. She had her very first banana split. She was quite thrilled by it.

First Fish

Grandad took Frog fishing today. She got her own princess rod and reel. And she caught her very first fish.

Monkey see, Monkey do

Little Monkey has decided he's ready to count. The first sequence goes: two, fee, siss, four. He'll be doing advanced calculus next year.

Little Bug wins! Maybe? A little? Not so much.

Well, Little Bug is the first child to break a bone. Not bad at four years old. She fell off the top bunk Saturday and broke her shoulder blade. Our pediatric office doesn't do X-rays, so we went to mine and Keith's PCP. He's given her a sling and gotten her an appointment at an orthopedic dcotor's.

Oh. No.

Monkey figured out how to take his clothes off. Let the nightmares of a naked baby standing atop a lit stove commence.

Toothless

Little Frog has had her first tooth loose for several weeks now. I refused to pull it, despite her pleading because of childhood trauma. When she went to the dentist for a cleaning today, though, the hygienist asked her if she'd like it pulled. There was a resounding "Yes!!" Numbing gel is awesome stuff, and Frog is just tickled pink to have a hole in her mouth now.

She has no idea...

Little Frog has her first lose tooth. She's jumping up and down in excitement. She has no idea about the crying and pain that will come later.

Big Changes

On the day that my oldest goes to first grade (first time she'll be in school all day), my youngest decides to use the potty for the first time. Am I allowed to cry now?

Ball

Little Monkey's favorite thing in the world is balls. He talks about them constantly. Everything that is vaguely circle shaped is called a ball. Today, he got ahold of some chalk and drew a "ball" on the chalkboard, over the Trail Blazers' troop leader list. For a first attempt at art, I'm pretty impressed.

Update, a few hours later:
David loves balls so much that his favorite foods are the ones that are ball shaped.
Yes, he has an olive on each of his index fingers.

Girls' Day

A day out with the Hardin family girls.

Northwest Nails (next to Jason's Deli) has little girl seats. This is Little Frog and Little Bug's first mani/pedis.

We are lunch at Chick-fil-A, of course.

Then we went shopping at Home Elements and Lizzy B's.
The girls all declared it a good day.

First sentence

Just thought you'd like to know that Laura wrote her first sentence that had nothing to do with school. It's supposed to read "Pam sit on a box," but since she sounded it out, it's a little but off. Still, I'm super proud.

David picks out clothes for the first time

This morning, I held up a blue striped shirt with a bulldozer on it that says "Work In Progress." "Would you like to wear this today?" He shook his head and hit the shirt out of my hand. I lifted his Razorbacks outfit. "What about the Razorbacks?" He nodded, "Yeah." Uncle Paul would be proud.

First Cut

David got his first haircut today. This happened mainly because his mean old Aunt Zina said he had a mullet. She might have been right. Here's a video of Mommy trying the shears. Then she gave them up for the scissors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfT8BO8N2gY

By the way, his hair is definitely red.
