Sloppy reading

Laura is super smart. But she's too full of energy and life to spent more than five minutes doing anything. This boundless energy affects her reading as much as anything else. If she gets the first couple letters of a word down, then she'll guess the rest of the word based on the pictures. I've been covering up a lot of pictures lately. Sometimes, the results are funny enough that I have a hard time reminding her of the rules.

According to Laura, this page of her custom book says:
"Bibi lifts the red bus." I laughed for a good ten minutes.

Discovery and Curiosity

David has discovered all of our Christmas story books that sing. I have a headache.

Are you my mother?

A:...You are a bird, and you are my mother. The end! Are you MY mother?
KJ: Yes!
A: No! I'm your mother, goofy girl!
KJ: You so silly, mommy!

The Little Snot

David has started a new habit. While nursing, if I try to do anything else (play on my phone, read a book, hold another child) he shoves it out of my hand and waves his arm around. Like he wants me to pay attention to just him while he's nursing. But, once I put whatever it is down and look at just him, he shoves my chin away so that I'm not looking at him, and then he shifts position so that his face isn't pointed at me. So, I'm not allowed to do anything else but hold him, but I'm not allowed to look at him either? Strange child.

This morning, David was alternating between nursing and talking to Daddy. So, I picked up my book, figuring that if he could talk to Daddy, I could read. But then he tried to take my book away, as always. I told him, "No, I'm reading." He gave me a beautiful smile and said, "Peas!" Keith and I looked at each other and said, "You said 'Please'! You CAN talk!"

Reading a book

L: Is this the baby?
K: No. That's as big as they get. *reads another line in the book*
L: Is this the baby?
K: No. That's as big as they get. It's an adult.
L: Oh. The mommy is small.
K: Yes.
